Hmmm... Monsters...

So the UAAP Cheerdance Competiton rolled along as it does every year with the usual excitement and battles over tickets. Since our university’s pep squad has maintained a pretty strong performance the last few years, it was one UAAP event everyone was looking forward to (we suck in the major games though lol).

Since tickets were hard to come by without exerting a major effort, my roommates and I settled for watching it on TV. I was with one roommate at first, and we went down to the TV area an hour and a half too early. She read her book while I drew (I brought my drawin material, and I drew some really nice stuff; but that’ll be in another post). We ended up getting good seats up front.

The UP Pep Squad performed fifth of the eight (I think), and of course, they were a sight to see. Every member was so brown and so BLOND. They wore these awesome black outfits with the top being red and velvety/shiny. I suppose they really stood out a lot this year. And of course, they did not fail to deliver. Their performance was flawless. And unlike last year, when I was not as wowed as I would have liked by their performance (they were pretty clean though), I was blown away by this year’s number.

When some members of the PEP Squad came and taught us the new cheer during my PE class, they described this year’s number as “Party, Party”, which pretty much describes the performance well. They were fun, they were flirty, they were so angas (probably best described in English as having a “come at me, bro” attitude) and they were so awesome. I almost didn’t even care about the next few performances (though a couple were pretty strong and clean).

In the end, UP rose to the top and nabbed not only the championship but also first place for the Group Stunts and one of the gals claimed the Stunner award. When the announcer said, “and still champion”, everyone in the TV area cheered so hard we didn’t even hear UP being proclaimed the champion.

Blargh, I’m so proud, UP PEP SQUAD. Also, congrats to DLSU and FEU for placing second and third.

EVERY YEAR I WILL WATCH THIS TILL I GROW OLD. I hope UP continues the awesomeness.
